AND NOW THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT

ANNA'S FIRST ELECTRONIC LO-FI MUSIC VIDEO

Anna Bleu's (5 years old) first U.S. debut on the electronic circuit with her sync pop dance skills.

While trying to learn Premiere Pro 6, I took the only footage I had on my iPhone--which happened to be the stellar moves of my youngest niece, Anna Bleu--and comprised a little music video for her.

THE UNICKS GO TO MAUI 2012

Quick edit of iPhone footage from our trip to Maui, Hawaii. It was the quintessential family vacation that only Edith Piaf could accommodate the soundtrack for.

MAZZY STAR - FADE INTO YOU

Nothing has ever been so true.

OUR OWN LITTLE BOATS

It's this that makes me weary of growing up.

"The last time when we more or less went through the motions of change together, everyone excited by the same things, at the same time. I always found this comforting. We were all in the same boat -- or at least swimming nearby. Now, we're all in our own little boats, in our own little oceans. It seems so much harder to be collectively surprised, exhilarated." [pinepoint]

MONTANA MANG

We took a trip. Headed west toward Montana until we reached Whitefish at 1:30 am on a Friday morning. The rest of the trip can't really be described and photos can only say so much. We went to celebrate and came home enlightened.

LANA DEL REY - VIDEO GAMES

This has been circulating in the blogosphere for a few weeks now. I thought the song itself was amazing but the video is almost addictive. I'm also a big fan of harps.

Swinging in the backyard/Pull up in your fast car/Whistling my name
Open up a beer/And you take it over here/And play a video game
I'm in his favorite sun dress/Watching me get undressed/Take that body downtown
I say you the bestest/Lean in for a big kiss/Put his favorite perfume on/Go play a video game

It's you, it's you, it's all for you/Everything I do/I tell you all the time/Heaven is a place on earth with you/Tell me all the things you want to do/I heard that you like the bad girls/Honey, is that true?/It's better than I ever even knew/They say that the world was built for two/Only worth living if somebody is loving you/Baby now you do

Singing in the old bars/Swinging with the old stars/Living for the fame
Kissing in the blue dark/Playing pool and wild darts/Video games
He holds me in his big arms/Drunk and I am seeing stars/This is all I think of
Watching all our friends fall/In and out of Old Paul's/This is my idea of fun/Playing video games

(Now you do)

It's you, it's you, it's all for you/Everything I do/I tell you all the time/Heaven is a place on earth with you/Tell me all the things you want to do/I heard that you like the bad girls/Honey, is that true?/It's better than I ever even knew/They say that the world was built for two/Only worth living if somebody is loving you/Baby now you do

GEORGETOWN TRAILER PARK MALL

This weekend I ventured to the deep South of Seattle to Georgetown where the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall commences each Saturday. I had heard of this place through the oracle that is the Internet but decided I had to check it out after reading about it in Seattle Magazine. As expected, it did not disappoint. It was full of weird trinkets, endless leather goods, and dusty textiles and made up entirely of old trailers, Airstreams, and vans.

BUKOWSKI

I've been on a Bukowski kick for the past few weeks so I felt the need to collect the words I've been giggling and reveling at.

"sometimes you climb out of bed in the morning and you think,
I'm not going to make it, but you laugh inside
remembering all the times you've felt that way..." [Gamblers All]

"For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us."

"How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 8:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so? "

"The more crap you believe, the better off you are."

"I wasn't much of a petty thief. I wanted the whole world or nothing." [Post Office, 1971]

"Silly bitch. She called him 'Daddy Wally.' He wasn't her daddy." [Post Office, 1971]

BON IVER - HOLOCENE

Crazy beautiful video.

PINTEREST BOARDS

I have a new obsession and her name is Pinterest. It's the bests of both tumblr and WeHeartIt.com but with categorizing and organization functionalities that I find essential. I've got five boards in process right now. Follow me here.

STUDIO LIVING

This weekend I made the move to a studio apartment in Capitol Hill, Seattle. The new place is in a beautiful 1910's building that is full of weird smells, creaky doors, and an inherently rustic feeling that makes you think about all the lives that have been lived out in this tiny city space. Art still needs to be hung and some detail smoothing is still in order but here is a peak at my new—well, actually very old—place.

DSCN2863

[The living area has two sets of bay windows which supply ample amounts of daylight since they are both West and South facing.]

DSCN2870

[The little crevice that perfectly fits a bed.]

DSCN2888

[I usually love waking up to sunshine but luckily there are blinds to banish the light on those certain mornings after late nights when darkness is necessary.]

DSCN2874

[The creep in me fully appreciates the ability to people watch from my bed.]

DSCN2842

[Rough city life.]

DSCN2861

[The front door and hallway, bathroom on the right.]

DSCN2854

[Neat old phone that used to be the intercom system throughout the apartment. Unfortunately it no longer works but the phone line hookup still dangles from it.]

DSCN2879

[The kitchen may not look like much but the size of this thing is gigantic compared to some of competing apartments I looked at. This is, however, my first stab at life without dishwasher, microwave or garbage disposal. So far, so good.]

DSCN2856

[Of all the rooms in the apartment, I'd have to say the bathroom is need of the most help.]

DSCN2857

[And while there are no shiny facets or sleek porcelain fixings, I'm quite in love with the character that the old tub and shower hold.]

DAY TRIPPIN ON ORCAS

This video was filmed and edited by my friend completely on his iPhone. Also posted are some of my photos from the trip. It was a rare beautiful day in this Northwest summer (or lack there of) we are having.
